Ask Curbed: I Can Has Rent Increaz?
Thursday, April 17, 2008, by Marissa Gluck

2008-04-cat.jpgA reader with a pet peeve asks if her rent increase is legal: "I came home to a notice on my door that my landlord is raising my rent $300 under the guise of an Additional Services Agreement for my cat. When I adopted the cat in 2005 they raised the rent $25 a month instead of asking for an additional pet deposit. Now, 3 years later, $300 a month as an additional services agreement seems a little steep. I will have been in this apartment in the Miracle Mile for 10 years come October. Is this a legal rent increase? Can I fight this?"
