Grand Avenue Project Is Coming...Just Slightly Delayed
Monday, January 14, 2008, by Marissa Gluck

2008.01.smallergrand.jpgAt least, we hope it's just a slight delay for the $3 billion downtown project. Angelenic is reporting that "groundbreaking is being pushed back to summer at the earliest." More worrisome than the delay is Frank Gehry's recent comments on the project. Via Blogdowntown: "Money is not available and the developer is in denial." That developer would be Related Companies, which recently received a $1.4 billion in investment from Goldman Sachs and the government of Abu Dhabi. We're hoping this is just a temporary bump in the long road towards the Grand Ave project, because we'd be sorely disappointed if we don't get our colorful L-shaped towers.
