American Apparel's Latest Billboard: Now We're Bored
Tuesday, September 11, 2007, by Dakota

"Aren't you going to write about American Apparel's new billboard?" asks a reader, in reference to the latest image to grace Alvarado and Sunset in Echo Park. Given our previous coverage of their billboards on this corner, we went and took a photo. But some might say it's NSFW, so the image is after the jump.

Yeah, honestly we are officially bored with AA's let's-be-so-provocative approach. Sh-t's getting old, AA. Advertising blog Copyranter agrees: "AA Phones It In." Plus, you made that poor girl look like she has scoliosis.

Yeah seriously, AA's approach is snoooooozerville. They sell COTTON T-SHIRTS for crapssake! Plus, I'm sure I've seen that shot as album covers, etc. over the years: boring.

Will Ferrell summed it up in Blades of Glory: "No one knows what it means, but it's provocative!"

Ah the sweet irony of devoting time and space to the promotion of something with which you're so officially bored. No doubt AA is more than happy for the pitch from your niche.

They put that in nyc too. What are women thinking buying from this company? It was on the news, the neighborhood is pissed.

If you live in the area, and you don't want it up there, email them.

Here is their parent company:
inquires@endeavoracq.com

and from AA:

American Apparel, whether they want to admit it or not, is the Abercrombie & Fitch of hipster wear. This provocative photo just confirms this.
