The "Real World" House Revealed

[Venice Beach house used in first "Real World: Los Angeles"]
Fourteen years ago, MTV could afford to rent and modify a house to film "The Real World: Los Angeles." Today, it seems construction is easier. A reader writes in with this tip: "The Real World house is being built and is almost completed on the old CBS building lot in Hollywood on Sunset. They are almost complete with the construction which even includes a pool built into the Parking lot." Got a pic? Send it our way.
They are going green big time--showcasing sustainable building and living in the "Real World". We are advising them and helping them showcase a greener, urban way of, well, doing a reality show. Everything will be recycled at the end, too. Should make one hell of a yard sale...
Part of "Green" building (at least in terms of LEED certification) includes social equity.
I'm sick of all those damn spoiled blond kids getting a free house (although I must admit the last time i watched the show was when puck called the cuban guy names). Do the show Chappelle style, or have a 2 bedroom house full of 20 mexicans duke it out for ownership, temptation island style.
I also heard that the Hollywood Flats development on Cole Place (which were being heavily advertised and then mysteriously disappeared from the internets) were scouted as a possible location. The building was ready to occupy and then all the banners disappeared. Upon diving by today, there were multiple construction looking trucks parked around the building...something was surely afoot.
Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing "green" about building a temporary house on a movie lot for a reality series.
How is it "sustainable"? It's TEMPORARY.Built for a show. what an idiot.
Green would be putting the Real World kids in an existing structure and having them renovate it themselves with green materials and hand tools. Showcasing inventive ways to build, make furniture and recycle.
That would be a show.......
