Hate to be a party pooper but that site plan isn't quite up to date. Same basic idea but it's an old one.

"When you get alcohol involved with young men -- and as somebody said earlier, testosterone -- that's a combination of a disaster there," the City Attorney quoted an unidentified LAPD officer as saying. "And I can guarantee that I'm going to be out there on some Saturday night at 1 in the morning handling a murder, because it's just going to happen ... I can guarantee you that."

This is an incredibly insight into the inner thought process of what drives our LAPD. They seriously believe this crap.

Full nudity and even, *gasp*, open sexual acts are performed daily in Amsterdam and it has one of the lowest incidences of violent crime.

Downtown LA has a change to show that it is a forward-thinking city and it is hampered by individuals in control like this.

Just had to add this. Great snapshot of what is probably going on all around the country right now. And no, I'm not the same Tim.

It's my turf indeed, but the much more knowledgeable and competent MetroRider writer "Wad" brought it over to MetroRiderLA. It's a great read though, I wish I had his skills for thoughtful wordcraft.

Is there any estimate as to when the movie theater segment of L.A. Live is going to open?

By Robert Fiore at August 24, 2007 11:05 AM

7.

The movie theater segment is the only part of LA Live! (the exclamation point is required at all times per the trade mark. !. ) that has not yet been entitled. There's been some shifting around of who the operator is going to be and so on. I won't be shocked if this part doesn't get built any time soon (and I'm the one who gets his knickers in a twist when people nay-say this development).

it's odd that they are having a hard time finding an operator for the movie theater, because a movie theater is what this area needs most. I think most downtown residents could do without the crappy chain restaurants and bars, though I guess it's more for the sports/convention crowd.

9.

The operator for the movie theater IS and has always been Regal Cinemas

By Anonymous at August 24, 2007 2:24 PM

10.

Regal backed out a while ago holmes (despite that affirmative all caps "IS").

By semprini at August 24, 2007 2:31 PM

im pretty sure its regal too, they are a AEG company if i am not mistaken.

Okay fine, goodness knows I've been pretty unreliable on the LA Live info thus far...
