Coming to San Pedro's Centre Street Lofts: Mojo, an interactive robot sculpture that beams a spotlight on people walking by. Yes, you read that correctly. The machine, which will be installed at the base of the building, gets its data from two roof-mounted surveillance cameras. Mojo was designed by German artist Christian Moeller; the building's developers (CIM Group, Lee Homes) believe the robot sculpture will help jump start the local art scene. One-bedroom lofts at Centre Street start in the high $300,000s, according to the development's web site.

oh boy! what a brilliant idea! if the artist knew anything about san pedroans, this thing would be far from his mind. speaking for me and my san pedro friends, the last thing we want is a g-dam spotlight on us or this town.
Dude, I like this thing. It's got personality, kinda like that little desk lamp that's at the begining of all the Pixar movies.
Don't be so lame SP, embrace the animated big brother spot light. EMBRACE IT NOW!
Bar none, this is the creepiest thing I've ever seen proposed for a city. The cameras shouldn't only be remote, they should be mounted like machine guns, and the person "in the spotlight" projected onto a nearby screen for everyone to see, the light making it's own unflattering commentary.
