In Los Angeles, it all comes back to our neighborhoods: where we live, where we work, where we eat, and where we play. Launched on November 1, 2005, Curbed LA has been at the center of the virtual city, covering real estate sales, rental prices, and news-making deals. We also track the newest developments in architecture and design while keeping up with the hottest restaurants, via our sister site Eater LA, and the latest neighborhood gossip—it's all on Curbed, because this is where you live.

Curbed LA is the second of the Curbed sites, which also include Curbed NY and Curbed SF, and part of the Curbed Network, a collection of neighborhood blogs. Our other sites are the restaurant blog Eater, the retail and fashion blog Racked and, during the summer season, The Beach, which covers the Hamptons.

Update on the Memorial Garden Project
A green enterprise honoring those who have paid the supreme sacrifice

The latest idea that the Memorial Garden Project is envisioning, would be called "The Soldier's Trail" or the "Baghdad Trail" The goal of this project is to construct a MEMORIAL PATHWAY in the Griffith Park area of Los Angeles. This area, approx. 800 acres was recently destroyed by a devastating fire. Controversy among hikers, Botanists and our City Fathers has arisen on how to replant the area.

Our idea is as follows: The trail could possibly start at the popular Greek Theater, wind it's way past the Observatory and end up at the Gene Autrey Museum. The trail should accommodate two golf cart widths and would have an accompanying dirt horse trail. Memorial Benches would be placed along the trail. Each bench saluting GI's that have fallen. Half way along the trail a suitable memorial could be placed for the 65,000 Iraqi citizens and construction workers who have also died in Iraq. Redwood and Oak Trees could be planted along the trail with possibly California Red Poppies, a nice addition, borrowing a symbol from WW 1 (Remember Flanders Fields)

We would like your input on this idea

As it says on my CYBERCLOUD WEBPAGE (www.cybercloud.com)

"SOME PEOPLE SEE THINGS AS THEY ARE AND SAY 'WHY?
I DREAM OF THINGS THAT COULD BE AND SAY WHY NOT".

A trail that winds through devastation would track the replanting and rebirth of beauty and hope. What a fitting tribute to those who gave their service to protect their communities. Life goes on...and rebirth is part of that essential process of survival.
